Privacy policy

Mail Gateway (https://email.liebanajr.com) is a private, self-hosted service. Its owner runs it for their own mailboxes. There is no public sign-up and no other users.

What it accesses

When the owner connects a mailbox, Mail Gateway reads messages from it: Gmail through Google's read-only gmail.readonly permission, Outlook.com and Microsoft 365 through Microsoft's read-only Mail.Read permission plus the account's email address, and iCloud Mail through an app-specific password. It reads message headers, text and the list of attachments. Attachments are downloaded only when the owner opens one, and they are not stored.

How it is used

The data is used only to let the owner search and read their own email, including through an AI assistant (such as Claude) that the owner explicitly authorises on this site. Mail Gateway never sends, deletes, moves or changes email. It does not use the data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not use it to train AI models.

Mail Gateway's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Storage and sharing

Message text and metadata are stored in a private database on the owner's server. Mailbox sign-ins (OAuth tokens and app passwords) are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Data is shared only with the AI assistant the owner connects, which receives only the messages it retrieves at the owner's request.

Retention and deletion

Data is kept while a mailbox is connected. Removing a mailbox on this site deletes its sign-in and every stored message immediately. Access can also be revoked at any time from Google, Microsoft or Apple.
